DEATHTINY ist ein Wortspiel aus "death" (Tod) und "destiny" (Schicksal) und steht für die eher dunkle Seite- etwas unausweichliches, vielleicht auch mystisches- und wirkt sich sowohl auf die Songtexte aus- wenn auch oft nur vordergründig, da es viel zwischen den Zeilen zu entdecken gibt- als auch auf die Musik, die Aggressivität mit Atmosphäre, Eingängigkeit mit Progressivität, weiblichen Gesang mit extremen Vocals oder traditionellen Metal mit vielen anderen Einflüssen verbindet.

Die Band wurde von Dennis Buffing (gitarre, vocals) ins Leben gerufen, mit dem Ziel, seinen eigenen musikalischen und textlichen Stil zu verwirklichen. Nach langer Suche war Anfang 2003 mit Jana Lüdenbach (vocals), Matthias Hüpfl (gitarre), Axel Greiner (keyboards) und Jan Jäckle (drums) das Line-up komplett. Schon Mitte des Jahres waren genug Songs komponiert und das erste Demo "Frozen World" wurde veröffentlicht. Im Herbst des Jahres gab es die ersten Live-Auftritte, die recht vielversprechend verliefen.

Weitere Konzerte kamen hinzu und nebenher enstanden weitere Songs. So war bald genug eigenes Songmaterial vorhanden, um das Debütalbum in Angriff zu nehmen, das Anfang 2005 in Eigenregie veröffentlicht wurde. Neben den eigenen Kompositionen enthielt der Longplayer auch eine sehr eigene Interpretation von Shakira`s "Whenever, Wherever", die bei den Live-Auftritten immer zu begeistern wusste. Leider verließ Sängerin Jana Lüdenbach, kurz vor Album-Veröffentlichung, aus persönlichen Gründen, die Band. Die Suche nach einer Nachfolgerin sollte sich als sehr schwer und langwierig erweisen. So fanden sich zwar mehrere Sängerinnen, doch schien es nie so richtig zu passen.

Dadurch kam die Band längerer Zeit nicht wirklich voran. Zwischenzeitlich hatte auch Matthias Hüpfl die Band verlassen und wurde für einige Zeit, durch Thomas Flor, an der Rhythmus-Gitarre ersetzt. Erst 2008 sah Deathtiny wieder optimistischer in die Zukunft. Nachdem Jan Jäckle aus beruflichen Gründen die Band ebenfalls verlassen musste, wurde mit Tobias Brezler ein würdiger Nachfolger an den Drums gefunden. Etwas später konnte Seraina Kyria als neue Sängerin bestätigt werden, mit der die Band relativ bald wieder auf die Bühne zurück konnte und kurz später, für eine neue EP, zurück ins Studio ging. Auf "Descending" - Anfang 2009 wieder in Eigenregie veröffentlicht- zeigte sich eine deutliche Weiterentwicklung des eigenen Stils, vor allem gesanglich hatte sich die Band für ganz andere Richtungen geöffnet. Und auch optisch hatte man sich noch stärker auf die Musik und Texte eingelassen, so wurde vor allem die dunklere Seite hervorgehoben. Leider verließ Seraina Kyria kurz nach Veröffentlichung von "Descending"- aus musikalischen und persönlichen Gründen- Deathtiny. Und so stand man wieder vor dem Aus.

Doch die verbliebenen Bandmitglieder entschiedenen sich weiterzumachen und fanden schon kurz später eine Nachfolgerin. Julia Mann, eine talentierte, junge Sängerin, bislang ohne viel Band- und Live-Erfahrung, schaffte es mit Ihrer Motivation und Begeisterung, ihre Bandkollegen zu infizieren und zu überzeugen. So wurde mittlerweile neues Songmaterial ausgearbeitet und erste Live-Termine stehen an. Anfang 2010 wurde mit Yannick Ninkov auch das erste mal ein Bassist fest in die Band integriert.

Für die musikalische Ausrichtung der Band sollten die Grenzen des traditionellen Heavy Metal um verschiedene, auch genrefremde Einflüsse erweitert werden, ohne dabei jedoch Eingängigkeit und Heavyness vermissen zu lassen. Die Umsetzung der gesteckten Ziele äußert sich in stark riff-orientierten Stücken mit tragenden Melodien und einer möglichst klassisch gehaltenen Instrumentierung durch die Keyboards. Der weibliche Gesang, der von tief und ausdrucksstark über melodisch und rockig bis hin zu klassischem Gesang im Mezzo-Sopran reicht, und dazu die aggressiven Black-/ Death-Metal Vocals, sowie mehrstimmige Gesänge, prägen den völlig individuellen Stil der Band bis heute.

I have been making music for years and started taking singing lessons again in January 2007. I was lucky to find a teacher, who works as a producer as well, so I could get my songs reworked and recorded in a more professional way.

The problem is, that I actually don..t play any instruments. Though I had guitar lessons at school and do some tinkling on my keyboard from time to time most of the music is performed by the computer by programming.

Fortunately my producer Roland Loy was very helpful as well by playing guitars, piano and a bit of drums. Many thanks for this!

These songs I would like to introduce to you are a kind of first try to make something professional.

SECRET SIGNS BIOGRAPHY

The band was formed in April 2005 when Sergio López (Shakata's keyboard player at that time) and Jose Manuel Torres (guitar) met each other throughout a very popular internet music forum and decided to set up a new gothic metal project influenced by bands such as Epica, After Forever or Nightwish.

After finding a rehearsal place, they began to play some covers of these bands while they tried to find a drummer. Raul Ronco (partner of Sergio in Shakata) was joining the band little by little to become a full time member some time later.

It was not until November that they found a singer, Lucía Sánchez, who joined the band because of her great vocal range and musical affinity with the rest of the members.

In December 2005 the band moved to an own rehearsal room where they began to compose their first songs, and some time later, Jose Luis Tarano joined the band as a bass player . At that time, Sergio left Shakata to focus entirely on Secret Signs.

The band went on composing songs and in the summer of 2006 they had their first gig with Inordem and Dark Erial at Haddock, being very well acceptaced by the audience.

The following years they continued playing all around Spain and came for the first time in studio to record the song “Through the Stars” at Sonora, with the sound technician and friend of the band Sonia Robles (Hamlet, Mago de Oz, Def con Dos).

They kept on playing wherever they could and put up a festival called Femme Fatale in which at last one member of the bands that play is a female. The fest has already had IV editions being more and more successfull everytime).
In 2008 the band comes back to the studio to record their first album produced by Sonia Robles and once it was finished, they started to look for a label.

At the end of 2009 frontwoman Lucía Sánchez left the band to concentrate on her studies and job full time, being replaced by May Lucas, a nineteen years old singer with a very powerful voice who fits perfectly in the kind of singer they where looking for.

The most remarkable concert they have played so far was at Caracol the 19th of March 2010, supporting the Norwegian classic gothic metal band Theatre of Tragedy being very well received by the audience.

The immediate plans of the band are finding a record label and releasing the album in Spain and abroad.

İkili beste çalışmalarına başladı ve birçok müzisyen ile çalıştı. 2008'de davulcu Can Yelok ve bas gitarist Sami Tunca Olcayto'nun gruba dahil olmasıyla temel kadro oluşturuldu. 2010'da piyanist ve kompozitör Fulya Hale Çelikel' in gruba katılmasıyla beste çalışmalarına hız verildi.2010 yılı sonunda Tunca Olcayto ve Fulya Çelikel in gruptan ayrılmasının ardından Noyan Elpen gruba dahil oldu ve grup bass gitarist arayışlarını sürdürüyor. Grup demo kayıtlarıyla birçok müzisyenden olumlu yorum aldı ve şu sıralar prodüktör Burak Yarar'la kayıt çalışmalarını sürdüyor... ..Kısaca Dream Ocean Elemanları:.. ..Başak Ceber (Vokal).. ..şarkı söylemeye yedi yaşında TRT Çocuk korosunda başladı ve 10 yaşına kadar koroda söyledi .Lise yıllarında çeşitli rock gruplarında solist olarak yer aldı ,18 yaşında TRT Gençlik Korosuna seçildi ve bir yıl burda soprano olarak yer aldıktan sonra eğitim nedeniyle 2004 yılında korodan ayrılıp İstanbul Üniversitesi İşletme Fakültesine girdi burda lisans eğitimine devam ederken 2006 İstanbul Üniversitesi Devlet Konservatuvarı yarı zamanlı koro şarkıcılığı bölümü sınavlarına girdi ve kazandı fakat 1 yıl sonra eğitimine müzikal tiyatro alanında devam etmek istediğinden bu bölümden ayrılarak müzikal tiyatro bölümüne devam etti .Bu sırada senfonik metal türünde besteler yapmaya başladı. 2008 yılında mezun olduktan sonra İ. Ü.i D.K. Opera lisans bölümü sınavalrına girdi ve bu bölümde eğitim almaya hak kazandı . Apocalife!!

Singer Barbara Mischeri and guitarist Matteo Migliorini came up with the idea of forming the band Shining Fear in February 2004. Soon drummer Pierluigi Lazzarini, keyboardist Lorenzo Tomelleri and bassist Jacopo Ravagnani completed the band's line up. In February 2005 Shining Fear recorded their first demo, "Catch The Breathe", a gothic-oriented work in which both operatic vocals and the symphonic use of keaboards were used. Even though it was recorded in just 16 hours, the band considers it an honest work. Catch The Breathe received reviews by Metal Maniac, Rock Hard and other metal magazines. In the following years their sound evolved and became more aggressive and rough, and was influenced by different musical genres. In November 2008 Shining Fear recorded their first full-lenght, "ApocaLife", which includes 9 tracks noted for their heavy and aggressive sound.

A new musical realm is rising on the complex map of modern aggressive music. Staking out new ground amid the countless categories of metal, the sound of bronze—intimate yet epic, fierce yet beautiful—has arrived. Its heralds are the three musical adventurers—the Queen, her Wizard and her Warrior—at the heart of Montreal’s Dush.....

The term “bronze” is ideally suited to Dush. Brighter and warmer in appearance than most ordinary metals, bronze is an alloy, a fusion of copper with one or more other, non-metal elements. Likewise, Dush temper their basis in the focus and ferocity of heavy metal and industrial music with components from outside the parameters of the genres—consider the pop inflections in the chorus of “Circles” or the enveloping, mesmerizing mysticism of “Numb.” Moreover, among the physical properties of bronze is its resistance to rust, reflected in the timelessness of their sound. Paradoxically, Dush are absolutely up the minute in their approach to aggressive music, yet at the same time, they draw on melodies and atmospherics that evoke ancient truths, summoning to mind the Bronze Age and the mysteries of the cradle of civilization.

Dush bring their new musical perspectives as strangers in the land they now call home. Singer Mira Solo arrived from Israel in 1992, and started writing music as an antidote to a cultural transplant's melancholy. Positive reactions from those around her led to soft-rock sets at various little stages around Montreal, where in 2003 she caught the ear of Denis Hagalaz. The two clicked quickly - "You don't find chemistry like that all the time" says Solo. The keyboardist of Dush and a Canadian since 1996, Hagalaz's childhood classical training in his Russian homeland, and a teenage fascination with blues, were followed by busking on street corners and a stretch with a Russian ex-pat bar band. A fateful Christmas Day, 2005, saw an open-ended meeting of the two (accompanied by their now ex-guitarist), an informal jam that made the formation of Dush inevitable. "We melted together immediately" . The band's moniker chosen for its significance in both Hebrew and Russian, and for its connection to an actual temple in Egypt, reflecting the band's fascination with the murky depths of history. "I have a thing for ancient anything" says Solo. "For some reason, I'm drawn to that." The band already wrote "Circles" together that very day, a song that became one of the five on their debut, independent EP, Ancient Cities, released in 2008. Dush pushes each of its members to reach farther and challenge their own limits. Self-taught singer Solo continually discovered new vocal capabilities she didn't know she had. "The music is very demanding" says Hagalaz. "Physically" adds Solo.

Soon enough, Dush were facing their baptism of fire, entering local battle-of-the-band tournaments with a fiercely competitive spirit their music may be bronze but the two were never content with anything less than the gold medal, snagging the number-one spot when the dust settles. Key to this was crafting a stage show as elaborate and evocative as their music, with attention paid to all aspects - wardrobe and makeup, lighting, pacing, interpersonal dynamics and presentation. "It's very theatrical" says Solo of the live show. "We're trying to be sexual, because we want to attract people to come see our show, and if they can, fantasize about us. Because that's the most addictive thing about a show, to see something sexy, something that seduces you." Hagalaz adds to that, "When we come on stage, people's jaws drop."

The thoroughness that Dush bring to their show isn't lacking elsewhere. Every detail of the band's career, up front and public or behind the scenes, is handled with careful creative thought and professional diligence. "We have the same way of thinking, a clear vision of where we're going" says Hagalaz. "We aren't playing for ourselves in our garage, just for fun, drinking beer and whatever. We've come from other countries, from the other side of the world, to play music and become something - something big."

New line up...

Tacere originally started as the solo project of front man Karri Knuuttila in the early 2000s. A real band line-up and the name TACERE first appeared in 2002/2003, but the band was still lead by just male vocals. After hiring Helena Haaparanta as the female singer in 2004 Tacere got it's first stable line-up. The band put out a plethora of demos until in 2005 they were picked up by a Finnish record label ”Suomen Musiikki Oy / SM-Records” - a company ran by Kari Hynninen a well known music mogul who has discovered and worked with talents such as Apocalyptica and Amorphis in the metal scene, and several Finnish platinum artist on the pop scene.

The band released it's first mini-CD “A Voice in the dark” in November 2006 reaching a top-10 chart position in Finland. Followed by nearly half a year of recording and a lot of other work the band then finally released their debut album “Beautiful Darkness” in Scandinavia March 2007. Later during the same year releases followed for example in Russia, the CIS-states, Japan and Thailand. The album was produced together by Karri Knuuttila and producer guru Anssi Kippo (Children of Bodom etc.) and it received a great response from both the fans and critics. In Japan the album got an especially good response and achieved remarkable sales to be a debut album of an unknown metal band. Later on the band parted ways with the record label “Suomen Musiikki” in early 2008. After this the band's manager was also discharged and later in the spring the singer Helena Haaparanta quit the band. A show in the famous “On The Rocks” club in Helsinki 3th March 2008 remained as the last performance of the band with the debut album line-up.

A long and hard search process to find a new singer followed shortly. A huge amount of people applied for the singer position from all around the world, and it took almost half a year of reading and listening through applications, meeting people and seeing auditions, but Tacere finally found their new perfect singer, a beautiful Finnish girl called Taiya. She is an extremely talented singer, but also a highly experienced performer and the perfect person on the chemistry level for the band. After finding the new singer the band also hired a new keyboard player “Veli-Matti Kananen” (Poisonblack, Eternal Tears of Sorrow) and the band was finally complete.

Now Tacere is stronger than ever and ready to take things far. The band has a real dream line-up, fantastic new song material and more enthusiasm and energy than ever before. The recordings for a follow up for the debut “Beautiful Darkness”, a yet untitled 2nd album, start in February of 2009 and Tacere is currently looking for partners to release the album with.

One from Sweden

The Swedish Gothenburg band One Without is the result of taking “The Gothenburg Metal Sound” and implement it into a fusion of metal, rock and pop, making the sound incomparable and fresh.

“The idea has never been to sound like any other specific band, instead we try to focus on making all ideas count, bringing forth a new and fresh sound tracing back to influences of hundreds of other bands.”

With their debute album “Thoughts of a Secluded Mind”, mixed by Mattias Wänerstam (Avatar, Within Y) and mastered by Dragan Tanakovic (Mustach, Europe, In Flames, Evergrey) - two of the bigger names in the Swedish music industry, One Without sets a new standard to todays metal.

Formed in 2003 by Joonas Niskanen, the band has grown and evolved into a truly unique form with most of their strength lying in the line up.

A new good band!!

LISTANA was formed by Hilal Gur (vocal), Fulya Hale Celikel (keyboards& backing vocals), Alp Soganci (lead guitar), Kaan Seyithanoglu (bass guitar & brutal vocals) and Umut Celikkol (guitar) in May 2010 to perform Symphonic Metal.

At the end of the frantic efforts to find the right drummer for the band, Mehmet Engin joined the group. After left of Umut, participation of Mert Coskun finalized the last status of Listana members. As a result of ongoing searches and evaluations for the name of the group, Listana, which was used in ancient times as İstanbul, was chosen unanimously. During this short time the group has covered important symphonic metal bands’ songs and recorded & shared them by internet portals.

Listana has performed many times at important metal bars & organizations in İstanbul as of Dorock, ITU Rock Festival, Rock 'n Rolla, Oldschool, K6. Symphonic and Epic....

. Almôra; the best one of Symphonic and Epic Rock in Turkey had been implemented as a Soner Canözer project in 2001. The “Standing Still & Cyrano” E.P. and the “Gates of Time” album both released in 2002 excited the audience’s interest and the media as well. The album was placed in the best 10 albums of the year by some newspapers and magazines. Almôra won “The Best New Band of the Year” award by Kemanci Zine music magazine in 2002. “Gates of Time” which had a good press by some magazines abroad and came up with the one of the most popular albums especially in Jordan.

The second album of Almôra; “Kalihora’s Song” was released in the following year. This album had very good critics especially by the press abroad. “Shehrâzad” album that was released in the fall of 2004 has clinched the success of Almôra in abroad. Almôra took a giant step forward considering its international career by this album’s releasing in Japan. “Shehrâzad” was widely approved by the Japanese music lovers and the two songs belong to Soner Canozer were used in Japanese by the legendary musical group “Takarazuka” in the musical of “Revue of Dreams”. In this musical, there were also some other rock songs by famous musicians such as Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, Chris Impellitteri and Rob Rock.

This show was also published in DVD format in January, 2006. Besides, German RockHard; one of the most prestigious rock music magazines of Europe has praised Almôra and called it a prophet of music and culture. Almôra's fourth studio album "1945", which is the fifth work in discography, was released in winter of 2006. Mastering work of the album has been done in New York Masterdisk Studios. The world –famous Turkish tenor Hakan AYSEV has took his place as the lead vocalist of 2 songs in the album. These Rock-Opera songs are the first and the unique samples in the Turkish Rock history. Almôra’s “1945” album has hold a huge place in national press and got high remarks from some important music critics.

The album was chosen as the "The Best Album of 2006" by Yuxexes Music Magazine writers. Almôra has kept the success by releasing albums in other countries in 2006. "Kalihora's Song", "Shehrâzad" and "1945" had been released in Mexico in the middle of 2006, "1945" had been released in Japan in July. The successful album “Shehrâzad” had been stated as one of the 5 best albums of Turkish Rock (lyrics in English) history ever in Milliyet Gazetesi and Blue Jean music magazine. Recently Almôra released a new record of one of the most popular songs; Cehennem Geceleri and prepared a special single and video clip in June, 2007. Almôra’s first album “Gates of Time” had also been released in Mexico that summer. Almôra released “The Judgement Symphony” in March 2008 as the first Turkish Gothic Rock album. Soner Canözer has worked with important musicians in this album which draws attention with its musical substance, epic and poetic lyrics and story. Ogün SANLISOY, who is one of the most successful rock vocalists in Turkey, has performed “Iyiler Siyah Giyer”; Arbak DAL’s played drums and Burak KULAKSIZOGLU’s played bass guitar as guest musicians. String instruments had been played by Senyaylar Strings Band and world-famous Roger LIAN has performed mastering in New York Masterdisk Studios. Almôra has always been meeting with the fans in an epic athmosphere with successful and original stage performance. Almôra has shared the stage with many world - famous bands in several concerts and festivals.

Döxa Project

El proyecto Döxa, comienza a tomar forma a finales del año 2006, cuando Víctor Fernández (teclados, voces), tras tener que abandonar Darksun por motivos personales, resistiéndose a la idea de dejar por completo el mundo de la música, comienza a llamar a varios amigos y antiguos compañeros de otras bandas anteriores, y a hablarles de la posibilidad de grabar un disco. No como banda, pero al menos como proyecto discográfico. El primero en unirse al proyecto es Juan B. Rodríguez "Txendo" (guitarras), antiguo compañero de banda.

Así, poco a poco se van uniendo una serie de músicos, de distinta procedencia y estilos. En enero de 2007, Víctor conoce a Dina Nasser (voces) en Madrid, quien, al hablarle del proyecto, decide unir sus esfuerzos con los demás. A partir de el verano de 2007, se van poco a poco confirmando más colaboraciones e intervenciones, como las de los miembros de Desakato Gabri y Falu, el acordeonista Rubén Medal, el vocalista Juanjo Abad (Biotech, ...) la soprano Ani Fojaco (...), y muchos otros.

A medida que la composición y arreglo de los temas avanzan, los participantes deciden no ceñirse a ningún estilo fijo o predeterminado, sino que, partiendo de una base metal, desarrollan sus ideas con plena libertad, prescindiendo en la medida de lo posible de las tan habituales etiquetas de la escena heavy-rock. El lema del proyecto comienza a ser "si nos gusta, queda".

En la primavera de 2008, Daniel González (Northwind, Darksun, Edén) comienza también a colaborar en el proyecto, y poco después comienzan las sesiones de grabación en los Dynamita estudios, propiedad de Daniel, en Lugones (Asturias).

Tras un largo y accidentado proceso de grabación, el resultado es el primer disco de Döxa, que lleva por título "Once... and for all" ("De una vez... y por todas"), y que ve la luz, autoeditado, en el otoño de 2009. Once cortes entre los que tiene cabida desde el metal sinfónico a la música electrónica.

Hamadría se inicia cuando Héctor Ilizarbe (Batería) y Miguel Cantuta(Guitarra) dejan la banda de Rock Mija, con la idea de formar un banda de Power Metal con influencia Metal Gotico. Con muchas ganas de comenzar este proyecto musical, se inicia la búsqueda de los demás integrantes de la banda. Es así que a mediados de año, Cristian Gamboa (guitarra) y Pame (voz) se unen al grupo. Los primeros temas: “Reyna Azul”, “Susurro’ y “Gritos”, terminan de ser compuestos y para fines del 2004,Leslie Soto (Teclados) y Richard Tarpoco (Bajo) se incorporan a la banda.

2005: Este año Hamadría participa en los concurridos festivales “Rockeate” y “Molina Rock” en el que quedan en segundo lugar.

2006: Hamadria participa de varios eventos limeños y pronto su tema Reyna Azul , toma gran acojida en la escena Undergraund peruana, ademas participa de eventos grandes como el Rockeate . Ademas ingresa como nuevo tecladista Oscar Q.

2007 : Hamadria participa de mas eventos limeños , Jaime Ancco ingresa como nuevo bajista . De esta forma se establece la actual alineación de Hamadría y la consolidación de la banda. Durante este año resaltan la participación en el “Rock en el paraíso” (Vitarte) y el “Rock en Vitarte”.

2008:Un buen año se inicia para el grupo.Hamadría empieza a tocar más seguido y a consolidarse en la escena. Muestra de ello son los conciertos realizados en Ica y Huaraz, donde reciben la aceptación y respaldo del público.

2009: Se realizan presentaciones importantes y lanzan sus nuevos temas entre ello el tema "Sueña", ademas comparte escenario con la banda mexicana Anabantha en Lima y Arequipa, tambien este mismo año se realiza el primer festival metal gotico peruano en S.J.L , y se lanza el primer documental de dicho evento donde Hamadria participa como banda estelar.

2010: Hamadria realiza su primera gira por el sur de peru y Bolivia, ciudades como Arequipa, Tacna , Puno y La Paz - Bolivia fueron parte de la gira, ademas se encuentra actualmente grabando su Primer CD oficial.

The eternal battle of good against evil is a recurring universal theme in the history of mankind, spanning the most diverse forms of art throughout the centuries. Frequently, these concepts have been marked by clichéd thought patterns, but the thin line between light and darkness is rarely easy to define or recognise. "Tales Of Ithiria" is Haggard's very own saga about this eternal battle and takes place in the fantastic world of "Ithiria".

The album sees the German classic metal act leave the path of human history for the first time since they got together in 1991 to devote themselves to the realm of fantasy. A reorientation and reclamation of virgin soil which doesn't come as a total surprise, seeing that all the great authors of the fantasy genre have a history background, finding their inspiration in mankind's real past. And for Asis Nasseri, creative mastermind of this sizeable chamber orchestra which has come together under the name of Haggard, the journey into fictitious spheres is an expansion of his own horizons which allows plenty of room for new possibilities. "I have to admit that I left the field of real history with a heavy heart," he recalls the early days of his work on "Tales Of Ithiria". "I'm very interested in history, and there was a variety of themes that I would like to have written about – but this history thing has become almost normal for Haggard, and I consciously wanted to leave that familiar path."

The creator of the legendary country of "Ithiria" saw himself faced with totally new challenges: "I found it much easier to set to music authentic subject matter, such as Nostradamus and Galilei. But I discovered that I am twice as critical if I have to listen to my own story, supported by my own music: does the music suit the scene, is everything consistent in itself?" And so in the last four years, Haggard focussed all their energies on creating a unique opus which on the one hand features the ingenious signature of their past three recordings and sparkles with new energy at the same time. A project which took many months to complete and a lot of work in terms of composition and coordination, but at the end of the day the result consists of eleven amazing tracks which are full of Haggard's sublimeness, emotiveness and awesome metallic gravity. A masterpiece which not only explores the boundaries between good and evil, but also puts the concept of classical music and metal into a whole new perspective, adding a visionary dimension.

Again, Asis' earthy grunts are blended with classical female and male voices, carried by a majestic orchestra and traditional rock instrumentations consisting of lush drums, a humming bass and driving e-guitars. This vocal diversity is expanded even further by drummer Mike Terrana, renowned on the rock music scene for his work with Rage, Yngwie Malmsteen and Tarja Turunen, who lent his sonorous and expressive voice to the epic tales of Ithiria.

Expressive multi-faceted music, excellent songwriting between complexity and sensitive melodic arches and harmonious arrangements have always been among Haggard's strengths and have reached truly fantastic new levels on "Tales Of Ithiria". So it should come as no surprise when the melancholy legend "Hijo De La Luna" from Iberia shines in a sensitive and at the same time dark metallic outfit, emphasised by operatic magic, in line with the traditional songs which Haggard have recorded in the past, such as the old Swedish ballad "Herr Mannelig". Upon its release LACUNA COIL’s album “Shallow Life” - recorded with acclaimed producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Pearl Jam) at the famed NRG Studios in Los Angeles - has marked the band’s highest Billboard chart entry, as well as the highest Billboard debut in the history of Century Media Records in the USA by hitting the US Billboard Top 200 charts at 16. “Shallow Life” also went straight into the official album charts in the following countries: Italy, Australia, UK, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Greece and Japan. The band once again scored cover features in influential European magazines such as Kerrang! and Big Cheese in the UK, Aardschock in Benelux, Rock Hard in France as well as lots of media love in their native Italy with features in XL and Vanity Fair as well as the covers of Metal Hammer, Rolling Stone and Rock Sound – just to mention a very few.

It is the first full-length studio album since the 2006 release “Karmacode” and undeniably a huge step forward in the band’s musical evolution. Twelve years after their acclaimed debut and three years following their previous release, Norwegian gothic metal pioneers Tristania are back with their long awaited sixth studio album. SATYRIAN is an international gothic rock band, combining dark atmospheric lyrics with wave, rock, classical orchestration, piano and heavy guitars.

The story of their new album "Eternitas" goes back to December 2002, when the band started recording at the Spacelab Studio in Germany. Though at the time they called themselves Danse Macabre, these were the early days for SATYRIAN. Recordings started with drummer Merijn Mol (Danse Macabre, The Dreamside), bassist Milos Marisevic (Danse Macabre) and composer / guitarist Jan "Örkki" Yrlund (Danse Macabre, ex- Lacrimosa, Prestige, Imperia, Angel, Delain). Piano and some clean vocals were supplied by producer Oliver Philipps (also in Everon). The band invited Kemi Vita (The Dreamside) as guest vocalist. Judith "Ciara" Stüber also took part in recording; she'd already joined the band for three songs on their previous album "Eva."

With a summer tour quickly approaching, the band invited their guests to join them. Guest vocalists Kemi and Judith gladly agreed, and producer Oliver also joined the band for this journey. At this point, the band was nearly complete. All that was missing was a final singer to complete the line-up. This they found in Roman Schönsee (ex- Pyogenesis, The Bloodline, The Dreamside). After rehearsals at Spacelab, the band headed to Finland for the tour. There, they also shot scenes in Lapland for an upcoming video with director Jari Koskela.

While on tour, the band and guests formed a bond not easily broken, and the guests were invited to join the band as full members. With the album still missing vocals, the band returned to Spacelab Studio in 2004. With all three vocalists experimenting with new sounds, the recordings were truly a creative process. Not only did they lay down the vocals, the band got carried away and recorded new piano, bass and orchestral parts. They also added an extra song to the mix. By June 2004, recordings were complete and the band adopted it's new moniker: SATYRIAN.

In autumn 2005, SATYRIAN's old record company agreed to the band's request to transfer the album and the band signed a new record deal with Lion Music Records.

The new album "Eternitas" consists of 12 songs in a wide variety of musical styles. From pure dark rock to danceable industrial beats, folk elements to classical atmosphere, the album runs the gammot of musical tastes. The contrast between the two male and two female voices define the band's sound. The guitar work varies from rock and metal riffing to melodic leads, often combined with piano. The lyrics are dark and atmospheric and offer a close look into deep personal emotions. It's an album about life and death, desire, fear, loss and eternity, the Eternitas.

1999 gründete Max und Fabian die Band "Morgart". Vorgängig spielte man jedoch bereits über Jahre in verschiedenen Schweizer Black-Metal-Formationen und sammelte Erfahrungen.Im luzernischen Littau fanden Morgart einen geeigneten Proberaum um ihre musikalischen Vorstellungen zu verwirklichen. Dort wurde auch das gleichnamige Studio "Morgart 1315" eingerichtet. Max und Fabian suchten längere Zeit nach weiteren Mitstreitern, jedoch fand man nicht die geeigneten Schwarzzünftler. Daher werden mit einem Computer die Drums programmiert und das Keyboard eingespielt.

Morgart ist es gelungen symphonische und abwechslungsreiche Songs zu kreieren. Von düsteren Orgeln bis zu majestätischen Streichern und hymnenhaften Bläsern, bietet der Sound von Morgart, zusammen mit Gitarre und Bass, eine optimale, düstere und atmosphärische Stimmung.

Für das soeben neu erschienene Album hat Eugen Müller der u.a. in Musicals wie Space Dream mitwirkt die kurzen Gesangspassagen über die Luzerner Stadtmauer eingesungen. Höhrt einfach mal rein und macht Euch euer eigenes Bild.

... The Unvoiced comes from the collaboration of the two founding members, Julien B. and Amélie G. At the beginning it was only a voice and the strings of an old acoustic guitar. Some songs were create, others were forgotten but a thing always remained, the passion of music, the need to explore new avenues and especially, the dream of any artist, to make a career, a life… Julien and Amélie played music everywhere, in the basement, in the parks, the cemeteries, the music stores, anywhere… But, The Unvoiced, wished something more for a long time, the powerful sound, the harmonies, the melodies and... the solos!! Then Lucas P., a former friend of Julien, resurfaces, the same passion which bound them friendship at school, playing guitar, is never extinct. Lucas joined the band. Then, Jayson arrived at the drum but The Unvoiced is not really the musical style he was looking for, the motivation fades and he leaves the band. But soon Cédric A. and François D. join the ranks of The Unvoiced as drummer and bass player. The same members of an old formation, named Deceit, form now The Unvoiced, the band is complete around March and April 2007. In the following weeks and months, the practices and jams bring the creation of new songs to life… In 2009, The Unvoiced enters in studio for the first time to record their debut album, the date of the exit is still unknown but a regular update will keep you informed!! The Unvoiced is always opened to meet other bands for shows or eventual colaboration!!

AXENSTAR was formed by Peter Johansson (guitar) and Magnus Ek (bass) as a Metal-cover band 1998 under the name Powerage, after several member changes the line up that took the name Axenstar in 2001 was Magnus Eriksson (Vocals & Keyboards), Thomas Eriksson (lead & rhythm guitar), Peter Johansson (rhythm & lead guitar), Magnus Ek (bass) and Pontus Jansson (drums).

In October 2002 Axenstar released their debut album Perpetual Twilight on the Spanish label Arise Records. The second album Far From Heaven was recorded during May of 2003 and just about a week after the recordings were done Axenstar played at the mighty Sweden Rock Festival, which was a great experience for the band, and in January 2004 the opportunity was given to go ahead on their first European Tour as the opening act to Falconer.

The third album The Inquisition saw the light of day in 2005, but the same year Peter Johansson and Thomas Eriksson left the band. After that third release the contract with Arise Records was over and Axenstar started looking for a new deal, now joining forces with Joakim Jonsson (Psychopunch, Skyfire, Mist of Avalon) on lead guitar.

In the autumn of 2005 a new deal was signed with German label Massacre Records and in the spring of 2006 the fourth album The Final Requiem was recorded. After the release of the fourth album there were more changes to come within the band and bassplayer Magnus Ek and drummer Pontus Jansson soon left due to lack of time.
Drummer Thomas Ohlsson and bassist Henrik Sedell just stayed in the band for about a year.

In 2008 Magnus and Joakim recorded a new yet untitled album and in december 2008 drummer Adam Lindberg (Intrive) joined the band. A few months later guitarist Jens Klovegård (Liquid Suicide) also joined the band

As band names go - perhaps there’s never been a more fitting, so apropos than THE MURDER OF MY SWEET - A name inspired by the 1944 movie “Murder, My Sweet. The path, beliefs and concept which the five members of the band share - the journey each of the members has endured finally led them to one another, building up to this point, to realizing common goals.

Formed by drummer, songwriter and producer Daniel Flores who after a few false starts of what was to become THE MURDER OF MY SWEET just by coincidence came across the magnificent singer Angelica Rylin - well endowed with the right look, voice and talents, being exactly what Daniel was searching for. The rest of THE MURDER OF MY SWEET’s line up was then rather easily recruited - guitarist Daniel Palmqvist, bass player Johan Niemann and keyboardist Andreas Lindahl all being mentally, creatively and spiritually the right combination to complete the perfect match.

THE MURDER OF MY SWEET is simple yet stirring musical statement that expands the boundaries of what great music is all about. THE MURDER OF MY SWEET’s sound is rich in influence and yet distinctly unique. The lush melodic cinematic landscapes reflect the diversity of the five members own musical experiences. From Angelica’s soaring vocal melodies and sweeping choruses to the explosive layers of guitars from Palmqvist and the thrilling orchestratic keyboard arrangements painted by Andreas Lindahl backed by the bombastic and dynamic rhythms of Niemann and Flores. The resulting collaborations are a work both haunting and uplifting - fuelled by the curiosity of seeing where their burning ambitions will take them.

The material is mainly written by the wonder team Daniel and Angelica - but not without the inspiration spark and input from the other three members - with songs based on personal experiences, movies and books. The bridge to eden..

1998

... Edenbridge was founded as a studio-project by guitarist / keyboarder Lanvall, bassist Kurt Bednarsky and vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher. By the entry of drummer Roland Navratil the line-up was completed for the production of their debutalbum Sunrise In Eden.

1999

... the recording of Sunrise In Eden took place in the Seagull Music Studio of sound magician Gandalf. In the same year Edenbridge signed a worldwide deal with the German label Massacre Records.

2000

... the CD was mixed in the House of Audio studios (Vandenplas, Pink Cream 69, D. C. Cooper, Axxis) by Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69). The impressive artwork of the CD was created by Markus Meyer, who also painted the last two Nightwish covers. The album was released on the 25th of September. In February Georg Edelmann joined the band as a second guitar player. In November/December Edenbridge supported their label mates Axxis and Pink Cream 69 on European tour.

2001

... Georg Edelmann left the band due to other job persepectives in January and was replaced by Andreas Eibler. Sunrise in Eden was released in all important markets of the world (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, South America, North America).

In July began the recordings for the second CD Arcana in the House of Audio studios in Germany. In August "Arcana" was mixed by Dennis Ward. Arcana was released on the 19th of November in Europe.

2002

In May Edenbridge were touring Europe for 3 weeks together with Metalium (Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden). Right after the band flied over to Korea for a show on the "International Busan Rock Festival" in front of 20.000 fans and a co-headliner show together with Sinergy in Seoul. Kurt Bednarsky left the band right after the tour. Andreas Oberhauser was replacing him for 2 shows in Summer. A tour through Brazil was cancelled in the last moment caused by a heavy economic crises. In November the 3rd album "Aphelion" was recorded in the House of Audio Studios together with Dennis Ward.

2003

Edenbridge is on European triple headliner tour together with Trail of Tears and Sirenia (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain). One show takes place at the Summer Breeze Festival in front of thousands of fans. Mike koren is supporting the band on bass.

2004

Edenbridge play in Russia for the first time with big success. The live album “A Livetime in Eden” with a bonus DVD is released in August. The 4th studio album “Shine” is recorded in Lanvall´s Farpoint Station studio and again in the House of Audio studio together with Dennis Ward. The band´s UK debut is happening in September with 1 show at the legendary Bloodstock festival in Derby. “Shine” is released in October followed by the single of the title track. Edenbridge is splitting with guitar player Andreas Eibler.

2005

Edenbridge are supporting Angra on their European tour together with Manticora. The band played concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, France and Belgium. Martin Mayr is playinng 2nd guitar live. In October the band is starting to record their 5th studio album "The Grand Design" at "Farpoint Station Studio".

2006

"The Grand Design" is mixed at "Thin Ice Studio"/England by Karl Groom (Threshold). In April the single "For your eyes only" is released (cover version of the James Bond title song). In May "The Grand Design" sees the light of day. Robert Schoenleitner replaces Martin mayr and takes over 2nd guitar live. Edenbridge sign a new world wide record deal with Napalm Records after their previous record deal with Massacre Records has expired.

In November Edenbridge are touring England. At the end of 2006/beginning of 2007 Edenbridge are touring Asia for the 2nd time having concerts in Taiwan and China.

2007

In March Edenbridge split with drummer Roland Navratil. He was replace by Sebastian Lanser. In Autumn the band starts the production of their 6th album called "MyEarthDream", the heaviest and most symphonic album so far. For the first time Edenbridge are working with an orchestra, the "Czech Film Orchestra".

Singer Floor Jansen needs no further introduction after 12 years of loyal service with After Forever. After the break of this band she knew she wanted to continue making metal!!! To accomplish this she joined forces with two additional songwriters to first compose, then record an album. The live band was formed after completion!

The first composer to join this new collaboration was soon found in Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc, Enemy Of The Sun, ao). The second composer is After Forever colleague Joost van den Broek. The ReVamp sound has become a unique blend of the personal style we recognize from these musicians.

Floor’s voice is already known for its wide range and variety. In ReVamp she shows the world she can do even more! From opera to raw screams; from rock to a light and almost whispered sound. She knows how to ‘master the cords’ and takes you along with her on a wild ride throughout the album!

The music is heavier than some of you might expect. Bombastic; but with heavy riffing. Complex and pounding drums mixed with melancholic strings. Crazy synth-sounds mixed with a beautiful choir. A wall of sound, yet transparent and versatile. And to finish this cake with a fine icing 3 special guests made this album extra special! Russell Allen (Symphony X) sings a beautiful duet with Floor. The fact their voices mix perfect together was proven before and on the song Sweet Curse they show ones again they are a magical duo.

Björn ‘Speed’ Strid (Soilwork) brings in power on a different level on the song ‘Disdain’. His raw screams make this song the heaviest on the album and create a nice ‘battle of the titans’ with Floor. On Here’s My Hell you’ll hear Dutch master grunter George Oosthoek (ex-Orphanage). The variety of these guests make the album extra interesting from the first note off to very last!

The word revamp literally means: to renovate, redo or revise. For Floor it got the symbolic meaning that this band puts new energy into her career as a singer, a next step but at the same time a continuation of her dream. The word ‘vamp’ indicates, with a wink, ‘woman’. No vampires or slutty types, just a strong lady in charge of her passion.

The live band is now rehearsing and will start kicking ass on stage in May already. Floor is taking 5 ‘new’ talents with her:

Matthias Landes (Dark Fortress) on drums, Jaap Melman (ex-Dreadlock Pussy, Pendejo) on bass, Jord Otto (The Blackest Grey) on guitar, Arjan Rijnen (Pendejo) on guitar and Ruben Wijga (Insomnia) on keyboard. Preparations for the shows are being done as we speak and the south of The Netherlands isn’t such a quit county anymore now ‘ReVamp’ is trying out some tunes every Saturday and Sunday.

For now there are shows booked only in The Netherlands but ReVamp will soon cross the Dutch border and conquer Europe and beyond!!!

On the 4th of June the first ReVamp album will be released by Nuclear Blast.

The self-titled album has 13 tracks and presents a new dimension in the female fronted metalscene.

Whispers Of Fate is a musical project formed by Betty and Kaos; it has always existed as a strong devotion to music and nature. The musical composition begins in early 2007 and after many attempts to form a proper band the duo starts working on the first full-length album. In 2009 Alex joins the project as drummer, and Stev as keyboard player. In 2010 the first album called "Embrace My Winter" is born.

Sonic Syndicate is a group of death-metal band from Falkenberg, Sweden. Is strongly influenced by other Swedish death metal bands like In Flames and Soilwork.

Sonic Syndicate was formed in 2002 under the name Fallen Angels, by Richard, Roger and Robin Sjunnesson. Under this name they recorded three demos, Fall from Heaven, Black Lotus and Extinction; then sign a contract with Pivotal Rockordings in 2005.
By signing the contract with Pivotal Rockordings the group changed its name to Sonic Syndicate, to record their first studio album, Eden Fire.

The group toured Sweden promoting her album Eden Fire, opening for Avatar. In early February 2006 during his tour with Avatar, Kristoffer Bäcklund (drums) left the group. He was replaced by John Bengtsson, and the band ended soon after the tour to begin preparing new material in March of that year.

In the summer of 2006, Sonic Syndicate entered a competition organized by one of the largest metal labels, Nuclear Blast. Among more than 1500 participants (groups) SS was elected one of three winners, which gave them the opportunity to sign a contract with the label. In November enter Black Lounge Studios, for recording after Eden Fire, Only Inhuman, with Jonas Kjellgren of Scar Symmetry. They made the video for the single "Denied", under the guidance of producer Patric Ullaeus.

At the beginning of the year 2004 Christopher Gutjahr (guitar) and Jens Hartwig (bass) from Tamm (a small town near Stuttgart / Germany) decide to finally make their dream come true and start a rock band.
They manage to convince their schoolmates Lukas Palme (keyboards), Erik Seitz (drums) and Patricia Riegraf (vocals) to support their project and join the group.

By autumn 2005 the young band have given several public performances on different occasions. One of them is Kelter Rocks at Tamm, initiated and organized by Christopher. This local rock concert, presenting / featuring young newcomer bands of the Ludwigsburg / Stuttgart region has become an annual event ever since. In October 2005 the singer Patricia leaves the band. But after a two-month-search they take on Maike Holzmann as their new voice. In the following two years the group does numerous live performances, and thus has the chance to gather lots of experience on stage and develop into a well-working team. Eventually Lukas steps in as a counterpart of Maike contrasting her clear soprano by his grim shouts in the background. Driving drum beats, guitar and keyboard sounds that vary from harsh rhythms to melodic lines are enhanced by orchestral elements. – It is this mixture that makes up the sound of Voices of Destiny, and describes their successful route. The band record their first demo-CD in a professional studio in 2007.

In the following year they start working on their EP Dare to Reach. In autumn 2008 they take part in the Youngsterball Contest and proudly receive the jury-award at the finals, on 21 Dec 2008, at LKA Langhorn, Stuttgart.

In summer 2009 Massacre Records take on the band and offer a worldwide CD contract. The recordings for their first album From the Ashes begin immediately afterwards. Its release is dated to 26 Feb 2010. A great start-up for a young group who artistically combine Epic Metal á la Edenbridge with Goth in the style of Epica and Within Temptation, adding traditional riffing and well-placed Death Growls.

WESTFALLENPARK is a gothic metal band that began on stage in April 2004. His style is melodic metal with orchestras and given the record of the singer can be called as Gothic metal.

During the first two years have made their 1st mini cd "Scars in the sand with a total of twenty-six concerts.

Remembrances was founded in october 2003 by Antonio López (guitar) and Haydée Mariñoso (singer), they wanted to play in a gothic metal band with influences like Lacuna Coil, The gathering, Theatre of Tragedy… After a lot of changes and musicians which were in the band, Remembrances started to play live in October 2005 and recordered their debut album, 'Crystal Tears', between march and July 2006 in Tatxin Studios with:

Antonio: guitar ,Quini: drums , Joaquín: bass ,Arturo: keyboard and pianos, Haydée: vocals

2008 was a great year for Remembrances: the band was selected to play in the international festival Villa de Bilbao, was finalist in the national song contest Belladurmiente, and won the third prize in the national competition Stage Mediatic. Thanks to this, Remembrances played in the important Mediatic Festival 2008 with bands like: The Waterboys, Fangoria, Los Suaves, In Extremo, Loquillo, Medina Azahara, Saratoga, Avalanch...

In October 2008 Joaquín left the band and he was replaced by Perea, an experimented bass and singer. Since then, Perea gives the band new and nice sounds and male vocals.

In February 2009 Remembrances participated in the Spanish Preselection Eurovision with ‘Espejismo’, the only song in spanish played by Remembrances. The band received the votes of thousands Internet users and was selected to play in the semifinal phase on national TV. Never before a gothic metal band had participated in Spanish Preselection Eurovision and a lot of people can meet Remembrances.

At present, Remembrances composes the songs of the second album. In this themes, the voice of Haydée will be accompanied by the male vocals and chorus of Perea.

Forever Slave was founded in 2000 by Sergio and Lady Angellyca. Soon after the band got in contact with others musicians and Forever Slave had been born.

Hate, their first mini demo (2000) and Schwarzer Engel (2001) were determining its special music style.

In December 2003 Forever Slave started to record Resurrection, a dark opera about Elizabeth Bathory's life.

In this year the band participated in some festivals.n Spring 2005, FOREVER SLAVE signed an international deal with Armageddon Music (Germany). The band recordered their debut album ( Alice's Inferno ) between May and June 2005, which it was produced by Lars Ratz. This album became top 9 in metal French Underclass sales, top 27 in Tipo's Sales (Spain) and it was album of the Month in Metal Hammer (Spain)

During 2005-2007 Forever Slave played in important festivals: Wacken Open Air Fest (Germany), Metal Female Voices Fest (Belgium), Rock Stars Festival (Spain) and they shared scenery with bands like Amon Amarth, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Arch Enemy, Battlelore, Carnivore, Celtic Frost, Children of Bodom, The Dogma, Ektomorf, Emperor, Fear Factory, Finntroll, Gamma Ray, In Extremo, Korpiklaani, Michael Schenker Group, Ministry, Morbid Angel, Motörhead, Mystic Circle, Nevermore, Opeth, Primal Fear, The Scorpions, Six Feet Under, Soilwork, Soulfly, Subway To Sally, Victory, Whitesnake, Wintersun,... and gothic metal bands with female singers, per exemple: Tristania, Xandria, Midnattsol, Visions of Atlantis, Theatre of Vampires, Naio Saion,...

Forever Slave recorded their second album in May-August 2007. The title of this album is Tales of Bad Girls and it was released in April 2008 in Europe by Wacken Records/SPV. The promotion of this album was supported with an European tour with Kamelot and Firewind.

DENIA is a side project to the band "NO LIFE AFTER LOVE" originally formed by Joey Denia (Songwritter) Maria Jose Erena (vocals) and Mario Infantes (Massakre Zombie, God Bless Us) in early 2009. In mid 2009 the band released their first LP called "No Life After Love" composed of 18 tracks and almost 80 minutes of music. The fact that our first cd this consists of 18 tracks is the result of a compulsive need to create songs to express in a more visceral, our environment, our difficulties ... Although originally envisioned by Martijn Westerholt as a musical project featuring a host of guest musicians, due to the high demand for live performances a real band was formed. This lead to the Roadrunner release of Delain's debut album 'Lucidity' in 2006. The group of musicians quickly transformed into a solid rocking force. Now Delain is nothing less than a real band. A versatile band with an impressive new album called April Rain.

The listener is immediately drawn in by sweet, waterdrop-like pianosounds. Then the rest of the band kicks in and the drops form a ferociously swirling river of sound, during which a heavy guitar riff mercilessly crushes. In little under a minute April Rain – the title track - has shown us a few of the many different faces of Delain. And at that point we haven't even heard singer Charlotte Wessels yet. "The album opening title track is one of the songs on the new album I'm most proud of", says Martijn Westerholt, keyboardist and Delain's main composer. "To me it's the ultimate example to show where Delain currently stands and how versatile we have become as a band."

Westerholt is right. The sound on April Rain is versatile indeed, with various musical influences. But the album is very coherent at the same time. The debut Lucidity was characterised by the many guest musicians. This time Delain is primarily Charlotte Wessels on vocals, Martijn Westerholt on keyboards, Ewout Pieters on guitar, Rob van der Loo on bass and Sander Zoer on drums. "Between the five of us, there's everything we need as a band, so there was no use for a lot of musical guests. The grunts in Virtue And Vice, for instance, are provided by our guitarist Ronald Landa and he did a wonderful job", says Westerholt. "There is one exception though. Working with Marko Hielata of Nightwish on Lucidity felt so good, that we also invited him for April Rain. His vocals can be heard on two tracks." A little less audible are the contributions that came from cellist Maria Ahn of the Ahn Trio. "Our producer Oliver Phillips pointed us in her direction", says Charlotte Wessels. "Maria has done a fantastic job. Adding a real cello instead of strings from a computer adds a lot of value to our songs."

Aside from the aforementioned collaborations, April Rain is one-hundred-percent Delain. From the breathtaking opener, to the epic closing track 'Nothing Left'. And they'll leave you breathless. Westerholt: "The extensive touring and playing the past two years has really brought us together personally and musically. Delain is a band now, instead of a project. A tight force that works together. We complement each other and that strengthens our sound." Wessels feels that the whirlwind beginnings of Delain contributed to the strong relationship. "We had an intense and very short time to rehearse before our first gig. We were all in it together and we almost immediately forged a bond. Those early rehearsals where the platform for Delain as we now know it." Looking at the credits on the April Rain album, it's evident that Delain is no longer 'the band of Martijn Westerholt'. The other members and especially Charlotte Wessels have played a major part in the creation of April Rain. Wessels: "Work on Lucidity was fantastic, but it was a bit of a fill exercise as the majority of the songs were already there. On April Rain my involvement was much bigger. Therefore it really feels as 'my' album. Even more so than our debut."

While remaining responsible for the overall Delain sound, Westerholt has given the band members the freedom to contribute. "Now that the band can draw from multiple musical sources, Delain has become a more diverse sounding unit", says Westerholt. This also means that there is even room on April Rain for songs in which he almost had no hand in. Such as On The Other Side. "A very personal song that means a lot to me", according to author Charlotte Wessels. "This song qualifies as 'my little baby' on the album and reflects on a difficult period that I went through." Westerholt: "And therefore, it is featured on April Rain. I have an enormous amount of respect for Charlotte and I feel that when a song is so important for one of the band members it should be on a Delain album. Originally Delain was 'my' project, but now Charlotte and the other band members are just as much Delain as myself."

To promote April Rain, Delain will be embarking on a massive tour. It is quite difficult to imagine that only a few years ago Martijn Westerholt was forced to leave Within Temptation because Pfeiffer's disease made it impossible for him to tour. "It may sound like a cliché, but it's the music that really gives me a massive amount of energy. Mind you, touring still is quite challenging for me, but at the same time I really get a health kick out of it. So over the coming months I'd love to play as many places as possible, especially those where Delain has not played before." All the while the band is already working on album number three. Westerholt: "The moment we were done with this one, we all started talking about the next. We have only just started as a band and at this point in our career there is a constant flow of ideas that we want to explore. We don't want that source to dry up, so the writing continues. If it were up to me, Delain will be broadening all musical boundaries and we're curious to see how far this band can take us. An exciting challenge, which will be great fun!"

Amberian Dawn is a Finnish metal band which combines bravely many different kinds of styles in their music with high skilled playing. During their existence, Amberian Dawn has honed their trademark sound with expert precision, making highly polished albums of symphonic metal that are sure to be heralded as future classics by fans of the genre.

Amberian Dawn is musically lead by keyboardist/guitarist Tuomas Seppälä, who exclusively composes all music for AD. Vocalist Heidi Parviainen adds the finishing touch to the songs with her lyrics.

The story of AD began in the summer 2006 when the founder members, Tuomas Seppälä and Tommi Kuri decided to put together a new band when their former band Virtuocity was disbanding. Tuomas and Tommi recruited Virtuocity drummer Heikki Saari (Norther, Force Majeure, Tuoni), keyboardist Tom Sagar, and guitarist Sampo Seppälä to join the new band. After a fairly short search they found the classical soprano Heidi Parviainen (Iconofear) who turned out to be a perfect match - not only can she sing, she can also write intriguing lyrics and performs her craft effortlessly both on the stage in the studio. Amberian Dawn was finally born! After a while Sampo Seppälä (guitar) decided to leave the band due to personal reasons. His replacement came in the shape of the powerful guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen (Iconofear, Merging Flare , Guardians of Mankind, Elenium) and the band grew even stronger. Heikki Saari moved soon to Norther and his replacement was another young crazy drummer Joonas Pykälä-Aho (Thaurorod& Lathspell).

This first lineup recorded the debut album “River of Tuoni” which was released in Europe and parts of Asia in 2008. River of Tuoni Tour took Amberian Dawn on the road with a Dutch symphonic metal band Epica and together they treated their European fans with 22 shows in 8 countries across Europe.

The year 2009 sees the release of AD's second masterpiece "The Clouds of Northland Thunder" and a change in the line-up. Emil Pohjalainen (Thaurorod) recently joined on second guitar with Tuomas moving to keyboards permanently for the live shows, thus replacing Tom Sagar. Tuomas will remain active on guitar for his writing and for future recordings. As one of the most technically advanced metal bands today, Amberian Dawn is fully armed and operational to continue their epic journey throughout the globe. First in line are the clubs (London, Helsinki) and festivals (Sweden Rock , Metal Female Voices) in Europe with more dates to follow. Stay tuned and follow the clouds.

Originally formed under the moniker Unseen, the dynamic four piece around Polish guitar maestro Mauser (who is also playing in Vader, one of Poland’s renowned metal bands) finally decided that something incorporating day and night, light and darkness would suit them best. A label for their music which is melancholic and a little dark at times, yet catchy at the same time. Something that would put a name to the bitter-sweet twist of Aya’s highly melodic vocals topping the driving force of the underlying guitar riffs. This unique mix easily makes UnSun’s debut album “The End Of Life” one of the most promising releases of the year.

Consolidated by the sheer passion to play intense music, Mauser and Aya knew upon their first rehearsals that it was their destiny to create music together. Right from this supernova it was clear that UnSun was not supposed to be just another side-project for Mauser, but his personal way of exploring new music. Thus, he and Aya started looking for other exceptional musicians to make UnSun a full-time band. Very soon Vaaver from Indukti and Heinrich, who also plays bass in Vesania, teamed up with Mauser and Aya to form the high profile band they are today.

During ice cold winter days at the end of 2006 they entered the studio to record their first demo “Whispers”. It didn’t take long until UnSun caught the attention of various labels throughout Europe and in 2007 they finally signed a deal with Mystic Production in their native Poland. The ink hadn’t fully dried yet when Mauser and Aya already started writing the first songs for what should become their debut-album “The End Of Life”, which was recorded in Poland in Studio-X in the beginning of 2008 and will see its European release on September 22nd with UnSun’s new, world-wide partner Century Media Records.

The Northlight (Norwegian: Nordlys) has always been a part of Myths, Stories, Sagas and Legends. Do warriors fight a bloody battle on the sky, or are these spirits of the dead playing games? Are those bands of light created by God’s fury or a sign of his protection? Maybe it’s the souls of yet-unborn children – heralds of the ancestors or the remains of fallen Warriors? The Northlight stands for diversity, just as the new album of the German-Norwegian formation: it’s more “metal,” more diverse, and also way more folk-orientated than the debut “Where Twilight Dwells.” Journalists have already compared it to the likes of Amorphis, Devin Townsend, Nightwish or even Iron Maiden, but one thing is for sure: a simple comparison doesn’t justify itself in the case of MIDNATTSOL – since their debut, the six-piece has created and enhanced its very own style…

Singer Carmen Elise Espenaes and guitarist Chris Hector founded MIDNATTSOL in 2002, their common ground being their mutual affection for Nordic mythology and composition. Other like-minded individuals were found in short order –drummer Chris Merzinsky, keyboardist Daniel Fischer, guitarist Daniel Droste and bassist Birgit Öllbruner – and the band recorded their first self-titled demo. The band quickly gathered fans around the underground and on the internet and also gained the attention from printed magazines, soon resulting in the band’s deal with Napalm Records. Powerfull Melodic Metal

From my point of view this the most powerfull band I ear lately. So strong on guitars despite being melodic.

Operatika was established in June of 2002 by Yuri Liakhovitch (drums), Bill Visser (guitar), and Slava Popova (vocals). After discussing musical ideas and goals, the trio began rehearsing and working on material. From this collaboration, Operatika’s first powerful yet melodic metal songs were born; a mixture of Bill’s furious riffs and solos, Yuri’s fast double-kicks, and Slava’s contemporary operatic vocals. Soon after, keyboardist Anna Dok came aboard and the band’s first bass player joined the band.

In April of 2005, Operatika released EP/Demo "Dreamworld" which showcased their signature symphonic power metal style. Its four tracks became very successful, instantly attracting attention from all over the world. While working on their debut album “The Calling”, two years later, the band met Michael LePond of Symphony X, who gladly agreed to record all bass parts for the album and play live shows.

Released in Europe in October of 2008, Japan in early 2009 and awaiting Mexican release, “The Calling” continues to receive critical acclaim around the world. Operatika had a two page spread feature in November 2008 issue of Italian “Metal Hammer”, UK “Power Play” and was reviewed in other prominent publications around the world. These ten new tracks convey true Operatika sound, rich in every aspect; powerful guitar riffs and solos, melodic keyboard harmonies, intense bass, fierce drumming, and harmonious operatic vocals.

The whole story began in the year 2000. It was just another alcohol-fueled Friday night, and after a while the boys (Ville and Sakke) decided that the world needs another melodic metal band. There can never be enough those around. And since they had been playing in bands practically all their lives, they felt that this should be a piece of cake. After all,how hard can it be to form a band? A rehearsal was scheduled.

Ville whipped out a couple of songs, and they rehearsed them as a duo for a while. A bass player was sorely needed. As it would happen, they found one in a bar just a couple of blocks away.A rehearsal was scheduled and later re-scheduled, since none of them remembered when it was supposed to be. Arto was his name, and he has stayed with the band from those early moments. The songs were piling up, and they had no singer. They looked for awhile, and somehow found an american girl called K. For the next year or so, she handled the vocals.

The second guitarist seemed impossible to find. A bunch of different characters tried & auditioned, but it never seemed to "click".

In 2003 our singer made it clear with her persistant absence, that she is no longer a member of the band. Things looked dark (for 5 minutes), until someone remembered the girl from the hairdresser..s close by. A friend had recommended her some time ago, and they had forgotten all about it. Sanna was her name, and she impressed the guys immediately. She was in.

Ready to record?

They found theirselves an excellent guitarist, and decided to record something in a proper studio. Too bad (for him?) that he mysteriously disappeared just before the recordings.

The demo-ep was released early 2004, and received tons of positive feedback. This encouraged them to make a full-length album. They got a friend of theirs to play the 2nd guitar, and needless to say, he quit just before the recordings. This added Ville..s misery, who soon found blisters in his fingers. Naturally they did..nt even think about slowing down, but focused on the album and looked for another player later.

A guy called Antti Roksa answered the ad, and he was in from the first rehearsals.

The quest for a record deal

In the following months, Skyward looked for a recordcompany to release their album. The most serious answer came from France. A company called Thundering Records was willing to release it. The actual contract was signed in May 2005, between Ville and Laurent, the manager of the company in Lille, France. The releasedate was scheduled for September/October

The curse of the missing bassist

For those of you who find line-up changes boring, stop reading now. After the recordings, Arto quit the band due to creative differences.(not really, but finally a chance to use that line)

A man called Jaska Koivusilta was the next bassist for the following months. With this line-up Skyward finally started playing live. They landed some pretty good gigs around the country until the inevitable break-up with our bassist. As unstable as it was, they never considered cancelling any gigs. Mikko Kivist.. of Pain Confessor came to rescue and played four gigs with Skyward. Unfortunately he was unable to continue with the band any further.

Enter Jyri Helko, the next replacement. A young, promising bassvirtuoso who helped out on the following few shows. Already busy with his studies & work, he was unable to continue with the band.

After him, it gets difficult to keep track. The average careerspan for the following players was now measured in days. The winner having spent just two days as our official bassist. (unless you count the guy who quit before he started)

Meanwhile in France

The debut album of Skyward was released in October 2005. At first, it was released in France & Belgium. In December 2005, Dynamic Arts Records launched the album in Scandinavia. In the spring of 2006, Thundering Records struck a deal with Twilight Distribution, which meant a wider european release for our album. In June, the first edition of the album was sold out. The 2nd edition was released later in the summer, with the video of Guardian as a bonus.

The curse has been lifted

Pete Kaipanen was to be our next (and last) bassplayer. A man with a talent with the acoustic guitar, and an excellent singing voice was eager to pick up the 5-string. After the first gigs with him, it was clear that he would stay with the band.

May have taken too long to mention one of the best bands in the world of metal. They are Whitin Temptation. How deep their lyrics, the symphony of sound and charisma of the band, make the environment almost magical.

Within Temptation have come a long way in the last ten years. From their humble beginnings, the Dutch band have now sold over 2 million CDs and DVDs world-wide, making them not only Holland’s biggest selling musical export but also one of the fastest growing new rock acts internationally.
Formed in 1996 around the nucleus of guitarist Robert Westerholt and vocalist Sharon den Adel, Within Temptation released their debut album Enter through Dutch indie label DSFA the following April. The album saw the band playing gigs across the continent, firmly cementing their phenomenal live reputation – most notably two appearances at the legendary Dynamo festival (in both 1997 and then on the main stage in 1998).
Unbelievably for a band who were attracting such critical and commercial acclaim, they were actually all still in college. And so in 1999, Within Temptation went on hiatus to allow the band to finish their studies.

Returning to the fray twelve months later, 2000 was to prove a pivotal year for the band. Building on their strong live following by playing all the major European festivals, the band released their second album Mother Earth in December. The new album again garnered critical acclaim - hugely influential Dutch music magazine Aloha tipped Within Temptation “for a major breakthrough” – and Mother Earth stayed in the Dutch charts for over three months.

In August, Within Temptation received a World Music Award for Best Selling Dutch Artist In The World. A release of The Silent Force in Japan, Australia, and the UK was next.

More plaudits followed in 2006 with Within Temptation receiving the Dutch Export Award (“Best International Selling Artist”) for the third consecutive time in a row, the Dutch BV Pop Award and a Golden God Award from the UK’s Metal Hammer magazine for Best Video. The band played on the biggest festivals in Europe and played in Japan for the first time.

The band started a corporation with game developer Spellborn. The Chronicles of Spellborn is a so called ‘Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing’ game’, with millions of players worldwide. The band wrote three songs for the game, and made the video ‘The Howling’ together, which was released exclusively through the internet. At the end of 2006 the band signed with Roadrunner Records in the US, making a simultaneous worldwide release possible.

And now the new album ‘The Heart of Everything’ is there. In describing The Heart Of Everything Robert Westerholt comments, “Although you can still clearly hear that this is a Within Temptation record, many things have changed and evolved. Sharon shows how versatile she is as a singer more than on any record we've done. On some songs, she sings with a lot of power; on other songs she is more melodic… a siren enchanting her subjects. The guitars also play a larger part, and we have added an extra dimension to our new songs too by enhancing them with historic samples, as we did on Our Solemn Hour. In February 2007 the single ‘What Have You Done’, featuring guest vocals from ‘Life Of Agony’ front man Keith Caputo, was released. The release of the single came alongside the news that the band had won the Dutch Export Award (“Best International Selling Artist”) for the fourth time in a row.

Their new album was again produced by Daniel Gibson and mixed by Stefan Glaumann (Rammstein) and entered the Dutch album charts at #1. The album reached a #2 position in Belgium and Finland, a top-5 position in Japan, Sweden, Portugal and Germany, a top-10 position in Switzerland, a top-15 position in Austria and Czech Republic and in the top-30 in Spain, Norway and France. By this, the album reached a #5 position in the European album charts. In March and April the band did a large European tour of 38 shows, which was completely sold out. They supported Lacuna Coil on their US tour in May, which was very successful.

In June the second single ‘Frozen’ was released. Through the video which came with the single, the band focused on drawing the attention to abuse within a family. This is why the band decided to support Child Helpline International by donating all the income they receive from Sony/BMG to this organization. Child Helpline International (CHI) is a global network of child helplines and works in 150 countries around the world.

Early July, ‘What Have You Done’ was released in the United States, making it the band’s first official release in the USA. ‘The Heart of Everything’ came out on July 24th and has been a big success so far. During the summer, the band did all the major European festivals, such as Download, Bilbao BBK Live, Novarock, Pinkpop and Rockperry.

In September a US headlining tour followed where their shows in cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston sold out. This tour was followed by shows in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France (October). 2007 ended with a big sold out show in the Beursgebouw in The Netherlands and four shows in the UK.

In 2008 a lot of new countries were visited in Central East Europe and Russia. In April the band did their first South-American tour.

On February 7th the band gave a special (sold out) concert with the Metropole Orchestra in Ahoy Rotterdam. Together with the PA dam choir, guest singers (Keith Caputo, George Oosthoek and Anneke van Giersbergen), a 400 square meters video screen, great lighting effects and pyrotechnics the Black Symphony concert was a great success. Kerrang rated the concert with the highest score and noted: "this really is the greatest show on earth!"

The Black Symphony concert was filmed by 14 HD-Cameras and released on DVD, Blu-ray and CD by the end of 2008 in 40 countries simultaneously. Black Symphony reached a top-10 position in 11 countries, from which 8 top-3 positions.

In November and December the band will do their first theatre tour in The Netherlands and Belgium, where the band will perform their songs in a more acoustic setting.

Here you have a bit of biography of one of my favorite bands: Visions of Atlantis.

Fascinated by the myths surrounding Atlantis, Werner Fiedler, Mike Koren, Christian Stani and Chris Kamper decided in August 2000 to create a band inspired by the enigma of the lost city. Later that summer, Nicole Bogner joined the project to complete Visions of Atlantis.

In December 2000, Visions of Atlantis recorded their demo Morning in Atlantis, signing to Black Arrow/TTS a year later. The debut album Eternal Endless Infinity was released in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in February 2002, followed by a European release, as well as releases in the former Soviet Union, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Columbia, and the USA.

The reactions proved overwhelming, enabling Visions of Atlantis to tour with the likes of Katatonia, Finntroll, Edenbridge, Nightwish, as well as to perform at festivals throughout Europe, South Korea (International Rock Festival in Busan, in front of over 20,000 spectators), and Latin America.

In the summer of 2003, vocalist Mario Plank and keyboarder Miro Holly replaced Christian Stani (vocals) and Chris Kamper (keys) in time for the signing of a new recording contract with Napalm Records and their unforgettable performance at the Masters of Rock Festivals (CZ, SK) in front of over 10,000 spectators at each show.

Cast Away, the band’s second offering, was released on 29 November 2004, while the band was on a month-long European tour with Epica. Both fans and press welcomed this second release with open arms, as well as the band’s first video to the track “Lost”, which received airplay on MTV, VIVA, and VIVA Plus.

In 2005, Visions of Atlantis played gig's with Edenbridge and Nightwish, as well as a tour with Elis, before line-up changes, as Nicole Bogner, Werner Fiedler, and Miro Holly left the band to be replaced by soprano Melissa Ferlaak (formerly of Aesma Daeva), guitarist Wolf. K, and keyboardist Martin Harb...

I thought it was interesting to include this item on the blog. I always felt curious about this instrument, look on wikipedia and found this interesting definition:

A keytar is a relatively lightweight keyboard or synthesizer that is supported by a strap around the neck and shoulders, similar to the way a guitar is supported by a guitar strap. Keytars allow players a greater range of movement compared to conventional keyboards, which are placed on stands.

The instrument has a musical keyboard for triggering musical notes and sounds. Controls for pitch bends, vibrato, portamento, and sustain are placed on the instrument’s “neck". The term "keytar" is a portmanteau of the words "keyboard" and "guitar." Keytars may either contain their own synthesis engines, or simply be controllers, triggering notes on another MIDI capable synthesizer.

Following the release of their debut album "Embrace the Storm" in 2005, Stream of Passion immediately gained the attention of female- fronted metal fans all over the globe with their unique sound. In 2008, after various European tours and festival appearances, plus the release of the live DVD "Live in the Real World" and several singles/video clips, Stream of Passion realized it was time to start working on their next album, which would open a new chapter in the band's history.
Led by the voice and violin of Mexican-born Marcela Bovio, the new band line-up consists of talented and passionate Dutch musicians Johan van Stratum (bass guitar), Martijn Peters (drums), Jeffrey Revet (keyboards), Eric Hazebroek (guitars) and Stephan Schultz (lead guitar).
The new line-up and interaction between the band members has definitely influenced the band's sound. Marcela explains: "Circumstances were different this time; we all live closer to each other now, so we could just get together and work on the songs face to face whenever we wanted to. We soon knew exactly the direction we wanted to take."
With new songs, an energetic live performance, and a record deal with Napalm Records, Stream of Passion is confident that they will once again take the gothic metal scene by storm. It´s Magica

They started in February 2002 as a project of Bogdan Costea, directly with the recordings for the 1st album "The Scroll of Stone" (having more of a demo purpose). After 2 months of intense work, the material was ready! 12 power melodic heavy metal songs, in the vein of Rhapsody, Nightwish, and Helloween, which show the high potential of the band. After the songs were ready Bogdan recruited the members of the band.
The second album, "Lightseeker", has been launched in October 2004 in France through Underclass Music .
Magica's first video, "Bittersweet Nightshade", was ready on February 10, 2005. Magica has been featured in the famous "Metallian" and "Rock Hard Magazine".
In 2006 the band had the pleasure of touring Europe opening for After Forever and Nightmare, Apocalyptica and Leaves Eyes .

Magica has always been a band that I loved. The lyrics are simply amazing if you like tales and fantasy things. For me its a powerful band.
There is one of its members that catches my attention ... as know as "6 fingers".
Everybody says that I play keyboards very well and so fast. I really like his sound and speed.

After Catafalque released Unique (2005), the first gothic metal album in Turkey, their name became well-known in their home country and abroad. Their eagerly awaited second album Dialectique, which will be released in June 2007, features the band’s brand new sound and their trademark songwriting style. In comparison to Unique, which is a real gothic album, Dialectique can be described not just as guitar-based gothic metal, but also shows characteristics of pop and dark metal, with synth leads and sequences and more technological sounds. The music belongs to Arin Baykurt, Serhan Diren and Alper Tabakçilar. The lyrics this time are not about classical gothic and romantic themes, but about the concept of a “woman”, seen from male and female perspectives. Recently, I visited the website of Epica and the truth is that I liked a lot. It has always been my favorite band above all others. They have been able to invent their own style and give it depth and classicism. On its website can see the different trajectories of its components and a common characteristic: all are studies in classical music. That made me think a lot. To achieve the level of Epica in this regard must be studied music at the conservatory for hours and hire choirs and violins to help you to raise the symphony. Es really difficult to make this whole thing ....

Great Gothic - Death metal fusion

Formed in 1996, Distorted was founded by high school friends in an attempt to create a refreshing trend in the whole female metal scene by mixing the brutal side of metal with the refinement of oriental music.

It is undeniably a fairly long track record of these guys from Israel. The energy released is impressive, do not use keyboards in his compositions that lends to their songs not so much depth, but the bass often replaced the keyboards.

However, his vocals manage to unite their voices (guttural and natural) to perfection in many of their songs. This is shown in the following songs: "Children of fall". Very good.

Holland is a country that does not stop us pleasant surprises in the form of bands.
Examples are from Within Temptation, Delain, Stream of passion, Epica and many more. But I discovered that there is life beyond Epica until I found them: La-Ventura

I really like the style of this band. Makes music quite naturally, the guitars have a major role in this group. Carla Douw gives a mature and charismatic voice that makes you believe what you are listening. They are a group with a great personality.

Sirenia Rules!!

I would like to start with a band of which I declare myself a staunch fan: Sirenia.

The inclusion of the Spanish singer Ailyn (Granada, Spain) from my point of view is a great success. We have seen the evolution of the band on their new album "The 13th floor", with much more melodic rhythms, power and above all by the presence of choirs, which give much greater depth to the songs.

They call themselves "Gothic metal" talking about subjects as varied as Life, Death, Love, Hate, Mental Decline ...

The single from their new album was certainly a big bombshell for specialized critics. Here also his "myspace"
